Our Goal
Sound Data Solutions' work supports cities in knowing themselves quantitatively. Elected decision makers, planning staff, and community members know the community's character, but the amount of data available is vast, and time to wrangle it all is limited. The connections between these data can tell powerful stories that support policy goals, or reveal problems we didn't know were there. Sound Data Solutions' work organizes that data, so elected officials and staff can easily access a summary of available data, dive deep, and use that to guide their work.The policy landscape for cities is changing, as Olympia passes new laws to push cities to do more in planning. Sound Data Solution's goal is to support cities in this work, by taking on the data gathering and prep work for you.
Chris Collier - Founder
Chris Collier has worked at all levels of government, from NASA's Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs, to the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. In both roles, the need for clear and concise data was a priority to decision makers and elected officials. With a Master of Public Administration from The Evergreen State College, and an undergraduate degree in IT from Central Washington University, Chris blends policy knowledge and technical know how to make data manageable.
